The IT Security Office at KU recognized real needs for more monitoring and logging of the campus network. Working within a budget crunch, our team of security specialists worked individually and as a group to build and implement Security Onion, a Graylog SIEM and a Zeek cluster, from the ground up. They will share the pros and cons, the triumphs and woes of taking a deep dive into Open Source security tools.
